Infortrend offers storage systems featuring hybrid host connectivity including Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI. These systems allow users to deploy business-critical applications on FC storage area networks (SAN), while configuring cost-effective remote replication via iSCSI-based data transmission over Ethernet. (figure 1)
For users not requiring remote replication, the hybrid connectivity can also be used to support consolidated SAN tiering. A single storage system or pool can meet service level requirements of tier 1 applications on FC SAN and tier 2 applications on IP SAN.

(figure 1)
Hybrid storage benefits:
Cost-effective remote replication:
- iSCSI ports directly connect to IP network for data transmission to remote site
- No need for protocol converters
- Considerable cost savings
SAN tiering
- Easily support FC SAN and IP SAN with one storage system/pool
- Eliminates need to deploy separate FC- and iSCSI-host systems
- Mission-critical applications on FC SAN
- Non-mission-critical applications on IP SAN
Hybrid connectivity is available on Infortrend’s mid-range ESVA (Enterprise Scalable Virtualized Architecture) solution and entry-level EonStor DS solution.
