INFORTREND LAUNCHES NEXT-GENERATION STORAGE SOLUTION AND A/V OPTIMIZATION FEATURES AT CEBIT 2009
New product roadmap announcement to usher company's transformation into an enterprise storage solution provider

Hannover, Germany, March 3, 2009 – At CeBIT 2009, networked storage expert Infortrend® (Public TPE: 2495) is making a major inroad into the high-end storage market with the launch of its next-generation 8Gb/s Fiber Channel (FC) RAID subsystem and the superior Audio/Video (A/V) Optimization features to its flagship EonStor® array lines. Delegates attending this prestigious annual ICT exhibition will also have a chance to get a preview of Infortrend's 2009 product roadmap, including capabilities for virtualization, replication and NAS, which will further strengthen the company's firm hold of the enterprise storage market and set a solid foundation for continued business growth.

Today, enterprises are finding strategic ways for the ideal distribution and management of their storage assets. With the geometric data growth, correlation with high performance storage area networks (SANs) and managed data centre application demand, it is expected that 8Gb/s FC will become the dominant protocol for future enterprise SAN.

Infortrend's next-generation 8Gb/s FC storage system, with the S16F-R1840 and S16F-G1840 models, is designed to meet today's stringent performance demand in data centers which require processing of large amount of data. Enterprises will benefit from the subsystems' capability to deliver as high as 2,800 MB/s read and 870MB/s write, which are all possible because of Infortrend's next-generation RAID engine. Based on High Availability (HA) modular hardware design, all redundant modules including controllers, power supplies, cooling fans and BBUs [Battery Backup Unit] are hot-swappable to achieve high fault-tolerance capability. For easy management, the subsystems are also equipped with SANWatch®, which allows users to centrally manage multiple EonStor subsystems locally or remotely over LAN/WAN.

At CeBIT 2009, visitors can also witness the superior performance of Infortrend's new A/V Optimization feature through the showcase of recent works by Framestore, the Oscar-winning visual effects and computer animation studio. Designed for the EonStor Subsystem family, the new feature allows users to select the best A/V Optimization Mode with a single click, reducing the response time whenever there is any drive latency to ensure no frame lost and enable fluid streaming. Developed to meet the increasing market demand for A/V applications – whether for broadcasting or editing – the AV optimization feature allows users to have effective control over how EonStor arrays handle data flow management.

Product Roadmap for 2009

Infortrend is also addressing more challenging issues and market trends in storage with its 2009 product roadmap. According to international research firms, the two most pressing issues corporations are facing today are how to prevent any computing downtime and how to effectively use of their storage capacity..

Based on market demand, Infortrend is rolling out new replication solution that can help companies minimize downtime by providing available remote data copies to support disaster recovery plan, and flexible use of data copies for multiple applications. Another product also introduced at CeBIT 2009 is the virtualization solution aimed that helping enterprises improve storage asset utilization, simplify scaling and delay acquisition until real needs happen.

"We are constantly monitoring industry trends and meticulously study how these influence enterprises' storage management implementation," said Danny Chang, senior director of global marketing at Infortrend Technology Inc. "To this end, we are gradually moving from a pure storage hardware device provider to enhancing our capability to offer our partners and customers with solutions and advanced capabilities that will help them effectively manage their storage assets. This will eventually lead us to transforming the company as an enterprise storage solution provider."

Studies show that an hour of downtime can cost companies, particularly those engaged in transaction-driven industries, up to US$50,000. A prolonged downtime also has severe business effect, with those failing to quickly manage it facing the danger of getting out of business within a year. A Gartner study shows that 40% of businesses that experience a disaster can go out of business within five years.

Meanwhile, research reports show that most corporations are not effectively utilizing their storage capacity, with IT departments reporting that only up to 40% of their total disk capacity are used. Enterprises are resorting to migrating data to another source, but the task is time consuming and often very costly.

The new enhancements for EonStor storage subsystems, replication and virtualization product roadmap as well as NAS solution, storage technologies such as ASIC 667 and SSD (Solid State Dish/Drive) support will be launched and demonstrated at the company's booth at Stand 28, A28, Hall 2, on March 3-8, 2009 at CeBIT Hannover.
