The EonStor S12S subsystem provides multi-lane Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) host interface. It can deliver satisfactory performance even in transaction-intensive or high-throughput applications. Scalable with either enterprise-level SAS drives or cost-effective SATA drives, the subsystem also enables tiered storage for effective data lifecycle management.

Multi-lane SAS for High Performance
S12S-G1033 adopts SAS technology in its host interface design, aggregating the 3Gbps bandwidth of four (4) physical links into a single 12Gbps high-speed port. With two (2) high-speed SAS host ports, the subsystem overcomes the limitations of its SCSI predecessors. It can not only be scaled up to the maximum of 60 drives with easy cabling but sustain the enhanced performance, high availability and reliability with this scaling.
Smart Scalability with SAS or SATA Drives
Through the one SAS expansion port, the subsystem offers ample capacity by connecting to the maximum of four (4) JBODs. The flexible support of both SAS and SATA-II drives allows integrators to configure the capacity as tiered storage for data lifecycle management. For mission-critical and frequently-accessed data, you can choose high-reliability SAS drives. As for near-line backup, distribution, or archival uses, affordable SATA drives will be the ideal fit. The optimal mix of these two kinds of drives can satisfy diverse environment requirements while saving unnecessary expenses.
Monitoring and Management
SANWatch: SANWatch provides all functions necessary to discover, configure, administer, and monitor Infortrend’s RAID arrays. Its unified GUI brings you simplicity in using all the features which enable data protection and high availability. Whether single or many, via Intranet or Internet, the status of your subsystems is always at your fingertips.
Snapshot: Snapshot is an add-on feature of SANWatch. Snapshot contributes to point-in-time backup with high fidelity and minimal impact on ongoing applications. Moreover, since the snapshot operation is processed by RAID hardware, it causes no loading on host CPUs at all. Snapshot also features dedicated snapshot volumes, automated snapshot scheduler, and comprehensive disk space control.
Besides the management suite, SANWatch, device status monitoring and management can also done through LED indicators, audible alarms, various event notification methods, LCD panel, and firmware utility.
