TAIPEI, Taiwan, March 25, 2014 – Infortrend (Public TPE: 2495) today announced that EonStor DS 3000 and EonNAS 3000 storage systems now support HGST 6TB Ultrastar He6 3.5-inch NL-SAS drives, the first 6TB drives in the storage solution industry.
HGST 6TB drives on Infortrend storage systems deliver 50 percent more capacity in the same 3.5-inch form factor compared to previously-popular 4TB drives. This means Infortrend EonStor DS 3000 systems with 360 drives through JBOD enclosures can accommodate up to a massive 2,160TB capacity, as opposed to 1,440TB with 4TB drives.
In addition to industry-leading capacity, HGST 6TB drives run 4-5 degrees Celsius cooler and are 50g lighter than traditional 4TB hard drives. This makes Infortrend storage solutions an attractive offering for bulk storage and large archives with more capacity and less power consumption, cooling, and rack weight.
