Before You Start
Before deploying a cluster, you must do the following:
- Prepare a PC and connect it to the management port’s switch.
- Disable the firewall, or enable the UDP ports on the firewall: 8814 (EonOne management), 8097/8098 (cluster deployment).
Deploy a Cluster
- Open a browser and enter IP http://10.10.0.1:8098. You will enter Infortrend Cluster Deployer to start the deployment process of the cluster.

- Select a language, and then click Apply.
- Read the instructions of the wizard, and then click Start.
Or, you can import a configuration file to deploy a cluster. Click Import configuration to import it. The settings that are specified in the file will be displayed on the Summary page for you to check. If the wizard fails to import the file, please update your file and import it again. - Select the nodes that you want to form your cluster, and then click Next.

- Make sure the status displays OK in the network diagnosis, and then click Next.

- Check each node installed SSDs. Make sure the status displays OK, then click Next.

- Enter a cluster name, enable advanced features if needed (see below for details), set the date and time, and then click Next.

Advanced features
- Enable tiered data migration
This function allows you to migrate folders between disk pools of different performance/protection levels based on your needs.
For example, suppose you create a folder on a disk pool, with the Erasure code (2+1) protection policy (higher protection, lower performance). To have a better access performance, you can later move this folder to another disk pool which has the “distributed” protection policy in EonOne.
Note:
You cannot change this setting once the cluster has been deployed.
- Enable project server for DaVinci Resolve
For DaVinci only, this function enables the built-in DaVinci Resolve project server to streamline multimedia editing.

You cannot change this setting once the cluster has been deployed.
Advanced settings
Under Advanced settings, you can choose the use for the cluster and determine the stripe size.
- General purpose (stripe size: 128k)
This option is recommended if the cluster is used for general applications, such as file sharing or backup, or in a generic environment.
- Multimedia streaming and editing (stripe size: 1M)
This option is recommended if the cluster is used for multimedia streaming and editing.
- Others
You can also customize the stripe size as 16/32/64/128/256/512/1024 KB. If you are not sure, choose General purpose.

- Enable tiered data migration
- Choose SSD usage that you want to use in your cluster and set the SSD OP ratio on each node. For U.2 SSDs, you can choose or customize how much of capacity to be reserved. This setting can help improve their drive endurance (see below for details). Then click Next.

Note:
- When the nodes are hybrid nodes (with both HDDs and SSDs installed) with more than 1 SSD, choose how to protect the cache space and storage created from the SSDs.
- SSD usage:
- Caching and auto-tiering: You want to use the SSDs to set up SSD cache space or the SSD storage tier in an auto-tiering environment.
- Data storage: You want to use the SSDs as persistent data storage.
- SSD over-provisioning:
In the SSD OP ratio column, you can specify how much of each node’s SSD capacity to be used for over-provisioning.
To apply the same ratio to other node devices, choose one or more nodes as the targets, and then click Set source node to choose a node as the source. The source’s SSD OP ratio value applies to the targets. - U.2 SSD endurance optimization:
- 0% (1 DWPD): The U.2 SSD storage capacity is all available for use.
- 17% (3 DWPD): 17% of the U.2 SSD capacity is reserved to achieve 3 DWPD endurance.
- Customize: You can reserve 1% to 50% of the SSD space for better performance and SSD endurance.

- Select the drive protection policy for your cluster, and then click Next.

Note:
When the nodes are hybrid nodes (with both HDDs and SSDs installed) with more than 1 SSD, choose how to protect the cache space and storage created from the SSDs.

- Configure the network as needed, and then click Next. If needed, you can click Set IP range to specify the IP addresses for nodes.

Note:
- Make sure that the corresponding switch frame size setting is the same as its front-end and internal LAN network; otherwise the cluster deployment may affect the performance.
- Set IP range: Specify the start IP address and the subnet mask for the range. If needed, specify the end IP address. You can add more ranges by clicking Add.
- Confirm the configurations you set, and then click Create.

- Wait for the system to apply your cluster configurations.
- View the configurations details after the cluster has been successfully created, and then click Exit. You will then jump to the management interface EonOne for CS. The URL of the management interface: http://10.10.0.1:8814.
