Before You Start

Before you connect network cables, make sure that the following steps have been completed.

• All your CS systems have been turned on and are acting normally (see Power on the System and Check System Status in Hardware Installation).
• You have read and understood the network architecture in a cluster (see Solution Architecture).

Check Your Host Board Combination

Depending on your host board combination, there are specific ways to connect cables to front-end and internal networks. The new “cross-host board” configurations require firmware v. 142Z12 or later. Refer to the article below for details.

Connect Network Cables

In this section, we use a three-node cluster as an example to demonstrate cluster cabling.

To connect network ports to switches, follow this order: management ports > internal ports > front-end ports.

1. Connect management port of each node to a switch.

   

   Important!

   Management ports must be connected before deploying the CS cluster; otherwise, it will cause a deployment failure.

2. Connect internal ports to another switch.

3. Connect the front-end ports to the other switch.



Note:

• Front-end connection is not necessary when deploying a cluster. You can always configure it afterwards.
• Out of performance considerations, we recommend connecting front-end ports and internal ports to separate switches. If you connect them to the same switch, ensure to perform zoning on the switch to keep them separated.
