Scale-out Overview

This section introduces the GS scale-out cluster, including applied models and firmware, the scale-out architecture, management software, and cluster cabling.

Enable Scale-out

Enable the scale-out feature on a used appliance or a new one.

Create Users

Create local users or export domain users from AD/LDAP.

Create and Access Folders from a Client

Grant users access permissions to the root shared folder and create folders directly from a client.

Add an Appliance*

Add a new appliance to the scale-out cluster.

Activate a File Scale-out License*

Activate a file scale-out license on a GS appliance in order to use file scale-out features.

Migrate and Manage Folders

Migrate or import a folder into the cluster.
