After you have enabled the scale-out feature, you will need to use a user account to create folders and manage data. This section describes how to create users from EonOne for GS scale-out.
Create a Local User
- Log in to EonOne using the GS appliance’s management IP.
- Go to Device management > Privilege > Users.
- Click Add to create a new user.
- Go to the General tab and provide user information. Refer to the descriptions below.
Name
Description
Username
Specify the new username. No spaces are allowed.
Password
Enter the password for this user account.
Home directory
Create a home directory for this user. When you check the box, the home directory path will automatically appear. Choose a volume from the drop-down menu.
Note: A home directory must be created on a volume of the primary appliance and cannot be migrated to a different volume or another appliance in the future.
Password expiration
Specify the validity period of the user password. The user has to change the password when it expires.
- Click OK when finished.
Import Domain Users from AD/LDAP Server
- Log in to EonOne using the GS appliance’s management IP.
- Go to Device management > Privilege > AD/LDAP.
- Select Windows active directory or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
- Specify the information by domain type:

Specify the IP address or domain of the Windows AD server.

Select whether to protect the connection with the Windows AD server: None or TLS.
Username
Specify the administrative username of the Windows AD server.
Password
Specify the administrative password of the Windows AD server.
Authentication level
Set the authentication strength from 2 (lowest security) to 5 (highest security).
To know which authentication level to choose, consult the documentation of Windows AD server.Domain controller
Click Fetch to get the domain controller information.
DC address
This field displays the IP addresses of the fetched domain controllers.
LDAP domain

LDAP server Specify the IP address of the LDAP server. LDAP Security Select whether to protect the connection with the LDAP server: None or TLS. Base DN Specify the LDAP base DN (distinguished name).
Examples: dc=aadomain,dc=aa.localRoot DN Specify the LDAP root DN.
Examples: cn=admin,dc=aadomain,dc=aa.localPassword Specify the root username and password of the LDAP server. - Click Save to save the information.
- The system automatically retrieves the domain-specific user information (in Device management > Privilege > Users) and user group information (in Device management > Privilege > Groups).
- To update information about domain users, click Update user list.
