Important!

• Refer to the Compatibility Guide (QVL) for supported drives.
• Ensure to install the enclosure to the rack first before installing drives to the enclosure’s drive bays.
• Ensure that your system has all the drive bays occupied with drive trays even if there are no drives installed. Without the drive trays, the ventilation is compromised and may cause overheating.

Install a Drive into a 3.5” HDD Drive Tray

1. Push the release button to the left.

   

2. Move the tray lever to the left to unlock the sides.

   

3. Pull both sides outwards to widen the tray.

   

4. Insert the drive into the tray.
   • For a 2.5” drive, secure the drive first to the inner tray with two of the provided screws (A), and orient the inner tray’s pin holes to the main drive tray’s pins on the sides (B).

     

   • For a 3.5” hard drive, orient the drive to the drive tray’s pins on the sides.

     

5. Snap back the sides of the tray to the original position.
   • For a 2.5” drive, secure the drive and tray assembly with two of the provided screws (A), and move the tray lever to the right (B). Keep the handle plate open (C).

     

   • For a 3.5” drive, secure the side that has the release button (A) to the drive first, then the side with the handle plate (B). Move the tray lever to the right (C). Keep the handle plate open (D).

     

   Important!

   Ensure that the drive is secured to the drive tray before installing the assembly into the enclosure.

Install a Drive into a 2.5” U.2 SSD Drive Tray (GS 5090C Only)

1. Place an SSD into the drive tray (A).
2. Secure the SSD to the tray using four of the provided screws (B). Keep the handle plate open (C).

   

Install a Drive and Tray Assembly into the Enclosure

Important!

• Seek assistance from at least 2 persons to install the enclosure to the rack.
• Install the enclosure to the rack before installing drives into the enclosure.

1. Pull the middle rails out until they are fully extended (A). With the assistance of another person, lift the enclosure, align the inner rails with the middle rails, and insert the enclosure onto the slide rails (B).

   

2. Gently slide the enclosure into the rack (A) until the inner rails snap into the locked position (B).

   

3. Remove the front cover of the enclosure (A). Remove the two screws that secure the top cover (B). Gently slide the top cover forwards (C) and then lift it up (D).
   Enclosure with a One-piece Top Cover

   

   Enclosure with a Top Cover and a Top Rear Cover

   

   For GS 5090C with a top rear cover, remove the two screws that secure the top rear cover (A), and then lift the top rear cover (B).

   

4. With the handle plate open (A), insert a drive and tray assembly into a drive slot (B). Follow the installation order as shown below: Row 1 > Row 2 > Rows 3 ~ 6.

   

   Important!

   Ensure that all drive slots are occupied with drive trays even if no drive is installed. Without the drive trays, the ventilation is compromised, which may cause overheating.

5. Secure the drive is into the drive slot.
   • 3.5” HDD tray
     Insert the drive all the way down until it connects with the enclosure (A), and close the handle plate to secure the drive tray in place (B). Ensure that the handle plate is clamped on the drive (C).

     

   • 2.5” NVMe SSD tray (GS 5090C only)
     Close the handle plate (A), and then tighten the thumb screw to secure the drive in place (B).

     

6. Put the top cover back, fasten the two screws to secure the top cover, and then put the front cover back. Push the release tab on each inner rail to release the lock (A), and gently slide to insert the entire enclosure into the rack (B).

   

7. Secure the enclosure to the front rack posts with two M5 25mm screws.

   

   Note:

   If the rack posts have unthreaded mounting holes, insert two M5 cage nuts into these holes first, and secure the enclosure to the rack with the M5 25mm screws.
