What is the difference between Symmetric Active/Active and Asymmetric Active/Active when creating a Pool?
- Asymmetric Active/Active Mode
When the user creates a pool and assigns it to the primary controller(for example controller A), the user can only access the pool through controller A. When controller A fails, controller B will take over I/O processes and thus the user now accesses the pool through controller B. - Symmetric Active/Active Mode
When the user creates a pool and assigns it to "both" controllers, which means the user can simultaneously do I/O commands through the two different controllers, and if one controller fails, the other controller will take over the I/O processes.
