What should be aware of before performing a firmware update on the GS series?

Last modified date: Fri, 22 Nov 2024 14:23:54 GMT+8

Explanation:

Before updating the firmware, ensure you understand the limitations associated with certain firmware versions. Follow these guidelines based on the firmware version relevant to your system:

  • FW v.1.61 onwards:
    1. A direct update from v.1.48 or earlier is NOT supported. Please update to v.1.49 first before proceeding to v.1.61 (or a later version).
    2. If updating from v.1.33 or earlier, update to v.1.49, reset the system to default settings, and then update to v.1.61 (or a later version).
  • FW v.1.61H14:
When updating from an earlier version to v.1.61H14 or later, rolling updates are NOT supported on units with 128GB memory or more (per controller). Schedule a downtime, shut down the system to stop I/O, and then proceed with the update.
  • FW v.1.52 onwards:
Downgrading to v.1.49 or earlier is NOT supported unless all logical drives are deleted from the system first.
  • FW v.1.49 onwards:
When updating Central EonOne from a version later than v.2.5r.27, you might encounter a message stating “Failed to update firmware due to incompatibility with the system.” In this case, shut down the system and retry the update.
  • FW v.1.48 and earlier:
Rolling updates are NOT supported on non-GS 3000/4000 Gen2 models. Schedule a downtime, shut down the system to stop I/O, and then update the firmware to v.1.49.
