Can We Get Available Space on a Volume Through SNMP?

Last modified date: Fri, 22 Nov 2024 14:23:33 GMT+8

Direct Method – Not Feasible

It is not possible to directly retrieve the available space on a volume through SNMP. However, a workaround can be implemented.

Workaround – Calculating Available Space

Available Space Calculation:
Available Space = Size of the Logical Volume (LV) Pool - Sum of the Sizes of the Partitions (Volumes) Associated with the LV

Required Object Identifiers (OIDs):
  • LV ID (lvID):
    OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.1714.1.1.3.1.2.x
Description: Identifies the Logical Volume (LV) to verify whether a partition is associated with the corresponding LV (pool).
  • LV Size (lvSize):
    OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.1714.1.1.3.1.3.x
Description: Represents the total size of the Logical Volume (LV) pool.
  • Partition LV ID (partLdLvID):
    OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.1714.1.1.4.1.2.y
Description: Indicates the LV ID to which a specific partition belongs.
  • Partition Size (partSize):
    OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.1714.1.1.4.1.4.y
Description: Denotes the size of an individual partition (volume).
