How many disks can the storage handle, and how many JBODs can be attached to storage array?

For SAS 6G models like DS 1000/2000/3000 & GS 1000, maximum of 5 high density JBODs (JB2048 / 2060) or 14 low density JBODs (JB2012/2016/2024B) can be attached to a storage system.

The maximum number of supported drives will be the number of the internal drive slots plus the number of external JBOD drive slots. i.e. DS 1016: 5 of JB 2060 can be attached.

The maximum number of supported drives for 3.5” HDDs is 16 + 5*60 =316

The maximum number of supported drives for 2.5” HDDs is 16 + 14*24 = 352

Thus, the maximum number of supported disks for SAS 6G models is 360. (i.e. DS 3060+5*JB3060)

For SAS 12G models like DS 4000 & GS 2000/3000/4000, maximum of 7 high density JBODs (JB3048 / 3060) or 14 low density JBODs (JB3012/3016/3024B) can be attached to a storage system by using its on-board expansion ports.

An expansion board can be added on GS 2000/3000/4000 , thus, the system can support up to 14 high density JBODs (JB3048 / 3060) or 28 low density JBODs (JB3012/3016/3024B). i.e. GS 3016 can attach 7* JB 3060 via on-board expansion ports + another 7* JB 3060 via the expansion board.

The maximum number of supported disks is 16+420+420=856.

Thus, the maximum number of supported disks for SAS 12G models is 864. (i.e. GS 3024+7*JB3060+7*JB3060)
