How to Resolve AD Join Failure Due to Special Characters in Password?

Symptom:

After upgrading firmware to version 166, there is an issue connecting with the AD server.

Diagnosis:

The problem arises from a bug in firmware version 166 where the system fails to recognize certain AD passwords containing special characters, such as "/".

Solution:
  • Adjust Password Special Characters:
    Users should configure AD passwords to include only acceptable special characters. Recommended characters include "@#%^*_-".
  • Upgrade Firmware:
    To resolve the password recognition issue, upgrade to the latest firmware version available:
    Visit the Infortrend Service Page to download the latest firmware.
Firmware Upgrade Procedure:
  • Prepare for Upgrade:
    1. Back up all critical data stored on the GS unit.
    2. Ensure the GS unit is connected to a stable power source and network.
  • Access Firmware Upgrade Section:
    1. Log in to the GS unit's management interface.
    2. Navigate to Settings -> Update & Security.
  • Upload Firmware:
    1. Locate the firmware upgrade section within Update & Security.
    2. Upload the downloaded firmware file to the GS unit.
  • Initiate Firmware Upgrade:
    1. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the firmware upgrade process.
    2. Allow the upgrade process to complete uninterrupted. The GS unit may restart automatically during this process.
  • Verify Upgrade Completion:
    1. After the GS unit has restarted, log back into the management interface.
    2. Verify that the firmware version displayed matches the version you downloaded.
    3. Check system functionality and ensure that the AD join issue is resolved.
