What to Do if There Are Drive SMART Error Events?

Last modified date: Fri, 22 Nov 2024 14:23:37 GMT+8

Symptoms
  • The UI displays a warning event message: WARN:SMART-CH 12 ID:62 (JBODId:1 SlotNum:3) Drive Event Detected.
  • This indicates a potential issue with the drive, as detected by the SMART monitoring system.
Impact Scope

This issue could potentially result in data loss.

Solution
  • Replace the Drive and Seek Further Assistance
    1. Replace the Drive: It is strongly recommended to replace the drive as soon as possible to prevent any risk of data loss.
    2. If Replacement Is Not Immediately Possible: If you are unable to replace the drive immediately, please create a support ticket at Infortrend Support. We can help you diagnose the problem and provide further guidance.
  • Prepare a Spare Drive
Prepare an additional drive and configure it as a spare drive. This way, if the system detects a SMART error on a drive, it will automatically initiate the cloning process of the affected drive and replace it with the spare drive. This helps ensure data integrity and minimizes downtime.
