Symptom:
In a customer environment with two storage systems configured for remote replication, the target volume does not automatically map after a disaster event. Despite the remote replication setup, the target volume remains inaccessible without manual intervention.
Diagnosis:
This issue occurs because the target volume was not configured with auto mapping settings. Without auto mapping, the target volume will not automatically map to a host after the source volume becomes unavailable.
Solution:
To ensure that the target volume automatically maps after a disaster, follow these steps to enable volume auto mapping:
- Go to Replication Pairs and select the option Split.
- Click on More > Mapping > Select the target replication pair for mapping.
- Create a host LUN mapping set automatically by selecting Create.
- Auto mapping is now configured.
This setup ensures that the target volume will automatically map to the host if the source volume fails.
