EonStor GS is an enterprise unified storage system that integrates SAN, NAS, and cloud services. With the newly supported scale-out feature, it enables enterprises to flexibly expand performance and capacity.

On the hardware side, it provides a variety of form factors and a flexible choice of host boards, as well as stable and reliable design and high scalability. EonStor GS comes in three product types based on the supported drives—U.2 NVMe SSD, 3.5" SAS HDD, and 2.5" SAS SSD. Whether you need a solution with extremely high performance or one that meets demanding capacity requirements, EonStor GS has all that covered.


U.2 NVMe All-Flash Storage

Built for Demanding Workloads: Featuring Intel® Xeon® D CPU, PCIe Gen4, and 100GbE, GS 4000U and GS 3000UT deliver extremely high IOPS and throughput to handle applications requiring high performance and low latencies.

Highly Cost Effective: With better performance at lower costs, U.2 NVMe SSD is becoming the mainstream in the market, making the GS U.2 NVMe series a promising flash storage product.

100GbE Ethernet and RDMA Supported: GS 4000U delivers up to 12GB/s throughput per port with the support of 100GbE with RDMA, ideal for large-file applications such as HPC and 8K video post-production. Compared to 25GbE or 40GbE, it can reduce the total power consumption as well as deployment complexity.

PCIe Gen 4 Drive Interface: GS 4000U and GS 3000UT support PCIe Gen 4, allowing you to unleash the maximum performance of U.2 SSD installed on this series for business-critical workloads.

SAS HDD Storage

Complete Product Line: EonStor GS provides multiple specifications for SAS HDD storage systems and expansion enclosures, including 2U 12-bay, 3U 16-bay, 4U 24-bay, and 4U 60-bay, so that you can choose a best solution for your organization according to current or future needs.

High Density: Holding 60 drives in a 4U form factor, EonStor GS is able to provide large capacity using less space, which significantly increases storage capacity per square foot of floor space than static shelving.

High Capacity: With the support of large size hard drives and capacity expansion via JBOD, EonStor GS is able to provide decades of petabyte storage capacity in one single system.

SAS SSD Storage

High Performance: The SAS SSD series provides both high IOPS and high throughput, delivering up to 900K IOPS and 11GB/s read and 8GB/s write in throughput to handle various enterprise-critical applications.

High Scalability: By connecting to 2.5" SAS JBOD, EonStor GS can hold more than 800 SSD drives in one single system.

SSD Optimization: With the built-in intelligent algorithms, EonStor GS prevents multiple SSDs from failing at the same time, thus extending SSD lifespans. In addition, GS monitors SSD usage in real time and notifies the administrator before the SSD is about to fail.

Best for Expanding Storages for Enterprises! EonStor GS supports scale-out expansion, allowing you to easily expand performance and capacity.

In the scale-out architecture, GS can linearly increase performance and capacity for both block-level and file-level. When one GS is not able to provide enough performance or capacity, you can simply add another GS appliance to the cluster – with a maximum of 4 GS units. GS also supports scale-up expansion with up to 896 drives to increase storage capacity.

Single Namespace for user convenience: The GS scale-out function integrates multiple GSs into a single file system, so that all GS folders and files are located in a single root directory, which makes users’ file access convenient and simple. For example, data originally scattered in various paths (such as \\server01, \\server02, \\server03) can be stored in the same path (e.g., all data stored in \\server01), so users don’t need to worry about where the data is placed.

Auto-Balancing to reduce the burden of IT storage management: The Auto-Balancing function is an intelligent assistant for data migration. It automatically detects and suggests location for data migration based on IT-defined folder attributes and migration policies (e.g., certain data has to be stored in SSD), eliminating the burden of IT manual planning and data migration.

EonStor GS comes with inline compression and offline deduplication, which reduces the storage capacity required and thus saves storage costs. Furthermore, you can schedule a deduplication process—or stop it when needed—to avoid affecting performance during peak hours and maintain management flexibility.

You can also configure the GS as a hybrid storage architecture based on application requirements, and through automatic storage tiering and SSD caching, it helps you create a high-performance, large-capacity storage system at a lower cost:

  • Automatic storage tiering (Auto-tiering) allows you to use U.2 NVMe SSD on the GS and NL-SAS/SATA HDD on expansion enclosures to leverage high performance of SSD and large capacity of HDD.
  • SSD cache uses a small number of SSDs on the GS as a cache to accelerate read performance in the SAN storage architecture. It also speeds up read/write performance and file operations in the NAS storage architecture to provide a better user experience.

Data loss is a disaster for every enterprise. EonStor GS provides various data protection solutions for enterprise data. First, drives are protected by RAID to ensure that data remains intact when a drive failure occurs. In the backup aspect, GS supports snapshot and volume copy for local and remote backup solutions. To offer enterprises a top backup option, GS supports folder snapshot, which delivers high backup efficiency with a minimal capacity requirement.

EonStor GS also supports WORM, a crucial security feature that safeguards data against ransomware attacks. It makes sure the data gets “locked” and therefore cannot be modified, deleted, overwritten, or even encrypted by ransomware.
