Infortrend recognized in Gartner Magic Quadrant for the second year running, surpassing key industry players

Infortrend has been recognized as one of the top 20 storage providers in Gartner's latest "Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays" report for its leading storage technology, best price-performance ratio and achieving one of the best balances between its ability to execute and completeness of vision.

As defined by Gartner, general-purpose disk arrays are designed to satisfy the storage needs of a diverse set of workloads hosted across multiple virtual or physical servers. Typical workloads include database, virtual server, VDI and more.

Infortrend was recognized as a key player for four main reasons:

  • Innovation and technological capabilities as the first vendor to deliver disk arrays with 16Gb/s Fibre Channel, 12Gb/s SAS and 2.5-inch HDDs.
  • Offering the best SPC-1 IOPS per dollar ratio in the midrange storage market.
  • Using super capacitors with a flash module, instead of batteries, to keep data safe for extended periods of time in case of power outages. Compared to battery technology, super capacitor technology requires no maintenance, is less expensive and will last for the life of the system.
  • Integrating SANWatch storage management suite, which provides all the functions necessary to discover, configure, administer and monitor all Infortrend storage platforms, including virtualization functions.

This Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Array represents a snapshot of the market at a particular point in time and takes into account the vendors' current product offerings and overall strategies.
