Why Isn't the Pool Expanding After Adding Drives?

Last modified date: Thu, 05 Mar 2026 16:21:48 GMT+8

Symptoms

After new drives are added, the pool size does not increase and no additional capacity is shown.

Possible Cause

New drives were added physically, but the pool was not manually expanded in the system interface. The system does not auto-expand pools after drive insertion.

Recommended Solution

  1. Verify that the new drives are recognized by the system under Settings > Storage > Disks.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Storage > Pools.
  3. Click Manage Logical Drive and add the newly installed drives to the pool.
  4. Use the Expand Pool option to apply the new capacity.

Preventive Action

  • Always verify disk recognition before expanding a pool.
  • Follow the full expansion procedure to apply capacity changes.
  • Avoid assuming pools auto-expand after drive installation.
